Who Carries Your Burdens?
All of us have burdens. For many, it is regret of sins committed in the past. Sins can be either something we failed to do or something we purposely did to others. Sin, by definition, is missing the mark of God's will. These sins, no matter how long time has passed, can often come back to our mind and cause us to mourn over our foolish actions. Is there a way you can find permanent relief from your sin burden? Yes there is! Relief from sin doesn't come through doing some deed, or taking some medication, rather relief comes through faith in a Person.
The Bible teaches that there is a Person who wants to forever remove from you your guilt of sin and carry all of your burdens. Who is this Person? This Person is the Lord Jesus Christ. How can one Person take a away all your guilt of sin and give you rest from your burden? It is possible because Jesus Christ came for the express purpose 2000 years ago to take all your burdens of sins and restore you to perfect eternal fellowship with the Heavenly Father, giving you a new life in Him (John 3:16;1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
Here is what the Lord Jesus said about a new life in Him, free from the burden of sin:
Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
19th Century Bible teacher Albert Barnes says this about this passage:
Here the Lord is stating that if you come to Him--He will give you rejuvenation. Are you tired of struggling to bear all your burdens of past regrets by yourself? Come, give you heart to the Lord and lay all your regrets on Him. He is able to bear them all! Read what Isaiah the Prophet says about Jesus Christ, the Suffering Servant who took all your sin upon Himself:
Isaiah 53:4-6 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. (5) But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. (6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned--every one--to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
If you desire relief from your sin, don't delay and come to Christ today! For all that come to Christ, Christ will forgive! I close with some more comments from Albert Barnes about the passage in Matthew 11: 28-30:

There can be no doubt, however, that he meant here chiefly to address the poor, lost, ruined sinner: the man “burdened” with a consciousness of his transgressions, trembling at his danger, and seeking deliverance. For such there is relief. Christ tells them to come to him, to believe in him, and to trust him, and him only, for salvation. Doing this, he will give them rest - rest from their sins, from the alarms of conscience, from the terrors of the law, and from the fears of eternal death.

The invitation is wide as the world. The child and the old man may seek and find salvation at the feet of the same Saviour. No child is too young; no man is too old: no one is too great a sinner. Christ is “full” of mercy, and all who come shall find peace. O how should we, in this sinful and miserable world, borne down with sin, and exposed each moment to death - how should we come and find the peace which he has promised to all, and take the yoke which all have found to be light!Pastor Steve
