How do you know God's will for your life?
Knowing God's will for your life is not an exact science. Despite this reality, the Bible does give some very
clear advice on how to make sure you are found in God's will. This Biblical advice is not so specific that it will tell you what company you should work for, or what kind of education you should get. Rather, the Bible gives you very clear principles that you can apply to your life's situation.

If you desire to know God's will for your life, here are some helpful Bible principles and passages:
- Make sure Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior--become Born Again (John 3:3).
- To be Born Again means you are alive spiritually--this comes from confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior (Romans 10:8-13).
- To be Born Again occurs one when you believe by faith alone that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and that He is alive from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 2:8-9).
- There is no way you can become Born Again by good deeds since all of us are sinners before God (Romans 3:10; Romans 3:23, Titus 3:5).
- Make sure you cultivate your relationship with the Lord.
- Seek Him daily with all your heart and soul (Deuteronomy 4:29).
- Love Him daily more than anything or anyone else in life (Deuteronomy 6:5).
- Spend time with Him daily by reading the Scripture and praying (Ephesians 6:18; Psalm 119:15).
- Forsake the pursuit of sin and keep His Word ( 1 John 1:9; Psalm 119:1-8; 1 John 2:1-6).
- Spend time with God's people (Hebrews 10:23-25).
- Put others before self (Mark 12:28-31; Matthew 22:35-40).
This list is not exhaustive, but is a good start. Being Born Again, meaning being saved from sin through faith in the work of Jesus Christ, is the prerequisite to all the list. You cannot know God's will for your life unless you first know Him through salvation in His Son, Jesus Christ. God wants you to know His will. He created you for the purpose to do His will (Ephesians 2:10).
One other thing, although number one on the list is a one time event, numbers two through four require constant cultivation. Fortunately, your cultivation is not done in your own strength. God promises to assist you and help make you into His image through the working of His Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:18).
I trust if you are serious about wanting to do God's will for your life you will seriously pray over this list and ask the Lord to help you.
