Why Marriage is Only Between a Man and a Woman--a Biblical View of Marriage

Although there is much time and money being spent in our country to redefine marriage as including same-sex marriage, the Bible speaks of marriage as only being between one man and one woman.

For example, in Genesis chapter 2, God creates Eve to be Adam's helper and wife:
Then the LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, "This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed. Genesis 2:18-25
Notice that in verse 24, the Bible states that a man should leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife.  It is clear in this context that the "wife" being referred to is Eve.  This verse is also used by our Lord Jesus Christ in the context of marriage:
But from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female.' 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate. Mark 10:6-9
It is pretty clear from these verses that marriage biblically speaking is only between a man and a woman.  To redefine marriage as being anything else is contrary to the Word of God.  That last statement may sound offensive to some, but I am just stating to you what the Bible plainly states.  Why is marriage only between a man and a woman? It is because that is what God established--marriage is to be between one man and one woman.

Therefore, I encourage those who may try to redefine marriage to rather look to the truth set forth by God's Written Word and be liberated from their political view.

I close with these verses from Psalm 19:
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Psalms 19:7-11
