That's Why There's A Christmas Day!

At the beginning of Jesus' earthly ministry, Jesus came unto His own people in Nazareth and declared to them the purpose of His earthly ministry:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” Luke 4:18-19
Once Jesus read this passage, the Bible states that everyone was looking on Him (Luke 4:20).  Then Jesus declared in Luke 4:21 “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

What did Jesus come that first time to fulfill?

Jesus came to:

  • Proclaim good news to the poor: Jesus Christ came to preach salvation to  the ones whom the world forgets.
  • Proclaim liberty to the captives: Jesus Christ came to liberate sinners from the bondage to sin.
  • Recovering of sight to the blind: Jesus Christ came to cause the spiritually blind to see the truth.
  • Set at liberty those who are oppressed: Jesus Christ came to bring victory to those who are crushed in spirit.
  • Proclaim the year of the Lord's favor: Jesus Christ came so all people everywhere can know that now is the time they can be restored, forgiven, and know Him as their Savior!
The people of Nazareth that day could not except that the Messiah came for Jews and Gentiles.  They missed out on the blessing of receiving their King!

Don't miss out this Christmas of receiving Christ as your King.  Turn to Him, Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, the Light of the World, The One who alone is Life Eternal!
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. . . . He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:1-5, 10-13
Merry Christmas!
