Before You Vote, Ask God For Wisdom!

James 1:5 — James 1:8
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a  double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

I believe this presidential election is a pivotal election in America's history (and the world's!). If you vote today, later this spring, or in the fall--make sure you seriously seek God's face for wisdom before you vote. As an American, remember that your vote affects the entire world (a very humbling and sobering thought that confronts me everytime I vote).

One of the best ways to vote is to first ask the Lord to help you make the right decision--ask Him for wisdom!  He promises in the above passage to give wisdom to all who seriously ask Him.

What should you ask of the Lord?
  • Ask Him to help you see truth from lies (see context of Joshua 9:14; 1 Kings 3:9)
  • Ask Him to help you see through nice sounding emotional arguments (see context 1 Samuel 8:6; 1 Kings 3:16-28 )
  • Ask Him to help you make the best decision (2 Samuel 2:1)!
Remember, God has placed you in America at this moment of History for a purpose (Esther 4:14)--a purpose that ultimately fulfills God's plan for Humanity: the return of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ (Psalm 2:1-9, Revelation 6:15-17; Revelation 19:11-16) to judge and reign over the entire earth. Your vote, whether you realize it or not, is all part of God's plan for this country and this world.

So after you seek the Lord humbly, go VOTE!  Remember, God is working all things according to His plan.  If your person doesn't win the election, remember that God's ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8). God is always in control! He may have allowed things to go a certain way different than your vote because it was part of His plan.  Does that mean that your vote was a waste?  No!  Why?  Because you faithfully executed your responsibility as an American citizen. You did to the best of your ability everything you thought was right. God honors those who seek His face and who live a biblically driven life.
